WhatsApp presented its users with the most requested functionality in late 2017, after a long wait: eliminating sent messages. It's a very useful tool that we've all used on some occasions to return and delete poorly written messages that were on the way to another conversation or immediately regret it after they were sent.
Although it is an app that we are constantly using, whatsApp is still being abused. Thus, it is likely that it will not take into consideration any main factors when removing WhatsApp messages which may ruin the intent of the job. To help you, we'll explain what you need to consider if you want to successfully delete WhatsApp messages.
If you are one of those who usually make a mistake when sending messages on WhatsApp and you have to resort to the "delete for all" option, there are several things that you should take into account to master the job.
You have a 60-minute limit to delete a message
The ability to delete WhatsApp messages started with a 7-minute limit, which was later extended to 60 minutes. This is the maximum time when you should delete the message that you sent to other members of the conversation, although some have already read it.
If 60 minutes have passed, WhatsApp will no longer give you the ability to delete the message for everyone. This way, the text, audio or video will remain on other people's phones forever.
Not usable in older WhatsApp releases
WhatsApp messaging is available only in the most recent versions of WhatsApp. Will, if you speak with someone who uses the old versions of the program, you will know that removing the messages would not be of much help as the feature is not usable in those versions and will therefore still appear to the other party if it is removed.
Apps are available which collect deleted messages
Though not well known, Android apps are dedicated to retrieving messages that are lost by other contacts and showing you their stuff. This way, the faster you delete the message, the other party can see its content.
If either of them uses this form of code, they would be able to quickly see the content of the messages that you delete, no matter how soon they do so. This is another thing to bear in mind when editing a message, but there's nothing you can do to stop it.
As an additional point, we mention that other contacts will be able to read the message if it is in the conversation before deleting it. If you are not quick to delete or delete does not succeed, it is likely that the other person will have time to read the message before the message "This message has been deleted" appears. Also, be aware that WhatsApp will not send you a notification if the message is not deleted successfully.
