Facebook launches an interactive map to follow the Corona virus

Facebook, in cooperation with Carnegie Mellon University researchers, developed thermal maps of COVID-19 in the United States.
At the beginning of the month, Facebook users in the U.S. began to see in their news feed a link to participate in a voluntary survey, which was intended to help monitor the spread of the coronavirus. They had to respond if they had symptoms associated with coronavirus, such as shortness of breath, fever, cough, etc.

The results of this symptom survey, conducted by researchers from Carnegie Mellon University, allow the identification and prediction of the most affected areas. From there, create thermal maps, forecast areas that require more equipment, and plan how to use medical resources, among other procedures ...
This database, created with these surveys and other information already gathered by researchers, can be seen in an interactive heat map about the symptoms of COVID-19. Information can be filtered by counties, hospitals and percentage of people with symptoms. Of course, it will be constantly updated.

An excellent initiative that will help governments anticipate the needs of people in specific regions and smartly direct all their efforts. While these maps only apply to the United States, Facebook plans to unleash the same dynamism globally, along with the University of Maryland.
